Paternostro extends contract with ICO until 2015

The Israel Chamber Orchestra has extended its contract with principal conductor and Music Director Roberto Paternostro until 2015.

"I feel happy to proceed my work with the Israel Chamber Orchestra and we have great plans for our future", said Paternostro. For him the extension was a matter of course as the orchestra's management and musicians are wonderful partners.

The Viennese conductor and longtime GMD of Kassel's State Theatre became the ICO's pricinpal conductor in 2009 and in 2010 Music Director. He conducts subscription series in Tel Aviv and the orchestra's festival in Eilat. Guest performances lead the orchestra under his baton to Austria (Haydnfestival Eisenstadt, Brucknerfest Linz) and Germany (Philharmonie Köln, Liederhalle Stuttgart). Their first CD  was just released: Hans Gal's violin concerto as the first recording on SACD.

The Israel Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1965 by Gary Bertini. It's one of Israel's most reknown orchestras. Paternostro's predecessors as Music Directors were Luciano Berio, Rudolf Barshai, Shlomo Mintz and Philippe Entremont.
